Packing for your trip has never been more of an issue than it is today... that is with the reduced number of bags and the reduced maximum weight allowed on the airlines.  The difficult thing is that there may be different rules for each airline.  For example, Alaska Airlines will allow you to check a rod case without any extra fees and without it counting toward your baggage count.  I don't know if other airlines do likewise...so be sure to read the fine print.

The good news is that most people in rural Alaska are exceedingly casual.  Most will simply put on a clean pair of jeans and a button up (or golf) shirt to go out to dinner.  So, pack light and pack casual.  For the outdoor activities, you will want to dress in layers.  The old saying goes, if you don't like the weather on the Kenai Peninsula, wait 5 minutes.  It is not unusual to go from absolutely blue-bird perfect morning to "OMG! What am I doing out here" afternoon!  So simply be prepared.

We do carry some rain gear on board our boats for those unforseen weather changes.  But the best bet is to bring quality gear that fit and you are comfortable in.
