Depends. Alaska fishing regulations can be very intimidating and complex. Here is the summary for fishing licneses: For Alaska Residents: - If less than 16 years of age, a fishing license or king stamp is not required, however these fishers will need a free harvest card which can be obtained online (link below) or at any convenience store, sporting good store, grocery store, or most any other merchant in the area.
- If 16 or older but less than 60, a fishing license is required, as is a king stamp if fishing for king salmon.
- If 60 or older, you may qualify for a permanent license (see the Alaska Fish & Game site link below)
- If you are enrolled in certain social programs, you may qualify for a reduced fee for your license
for Non-Residents of Alaska: - If less than 16 years of age, a fishing license or king stamp is not required, however these fishers will need a free harvest card which can be obtained online (link below) or at any convenience store, sporting good store, grocery store, or most any other merchant in the area.
- If 16 or older a fishing license is required, as is a king stamp if fishing for king salmon.
