King salmon:

Alaskan Fish Guides provides guided fishing trips on the Kenai and Kasilof Rivers on the Kenai Peninsula during the months of May through July. We offer both powered boat and drift boat fishing. We will use a variety of methods/techniques/tackles in an effort to get you on the fish and fill the box. Though we try to avoid the crowds, we will not hesitate to mix it up if that is what it takes to find success.

Kasilof River: The Kasilof is a drift only fishery and produces fish earlier than the Kenai, beginning in May. The average size of the kings on theEd with friend and co-worker Rich with 2 very nice kings while fishing on the Kenai River. Kasilof is around 18 pound in May but can reach 60+ pounds in July. The early fishery is hatchery enhanced, however native fish are common. The late fishery is mostly native fish and larger in size. Any king salmon weighing over 50 pounds on the Kasilof River is considered a trophy and qualifies for a certificate (suitable for framing) from the State of Alaska.

Kenai River: The Kenai River is world famous for king salmon fishing, producing a world record 97 pound 4 ounce king caught May 17, 1985 by Les Anderson. Fish weighing in excess of 50 pounds is common with occasional 70-80 pound fish. The normal Kenai king season extends from the end of May through the end of July. The Kenai is fished with both powered and drift boats. Any king salmon weighing over 75 pounds on the Kenai River is considered a tropyy and qualifies for a certificate (suitable for framing) from the State of Alaska.

Silver Salmon:

Fishing for slivers in the fall produces great fish but also spectacular scenery.Alaskan Fish Guides provides guided fishing trips on the Kenai and Kasilof drainages for silver (coho) salmon from the end of July through the end of October. Again, both powered and drift boat trips are offered. Fishing for silvers is a great change of pace from the early season king fishing. The limits are typcially more liberal and the fishing style is definitely more relaxed. The fish range in size from 10-20 pounds and put up a great fight.

Resident Fish:

A nice salmon sized rainbow trout from the Kenai River.
Rainbow Trout and Dolly Varden are two of the targeted resident species on the Kenai River. These are fished in the fall. Combo silver/trout trips are offered. The Kenai River has a tremendous reputation for producing unbelievably large rainbows/dollies often exceeding 30" in length. And if that is not enough, the girth of these fish is equally unbelievable due to the abundant food supply of salmon eggs and decaying flesh, not to mention the abundance of aquatic insects.
